The student crew isn't due to arrive for another day, but this voyage is already well into preproduction. A core group of the senior crew has arrived on location to prepare the Half Moon for the project -- and people -- to come. The museum's new box truck becomes an impromptu production facility, housing the ship's extra gear and our rented video equipment.

Mr. Boudreau carries groceries in dramatic fashion.

Mr. Wolfe has arrived with the last load of groceries, so the whole crew pitches in to relay it all on board.

Mr. Wolfe is surrounded by groceries in the galley.

This is no mere craft services table (although we do have pretzel sticks); Mr. Wolfe needs to feed our cast and crew three meals a day for the next week. Perishables go in the freezers...

Captain Reynolds stuffs Nick into a pantry shelf.

...while sturdier victuals all find a place on the pantry shelves.

Mr. Linehan, Mr. Boudreau, Ms. Niehaus, and Mr. Boyle catalog the ship's flags.

1700 hours

The senior crew spends the entire afternoon reorganizing and rearranging the ship's gear, getting everything in place for the beginning of production. Well after the sun has set, the crew calls it a day and bunks down for the night. A dark and stormy night, in fact, with several crew members tossing in their sleep due to the thunderstorm that rolls right over us in the wee hours.

Next Time: Wanted: Student Sailors, Some Experience Required
