The Replica Ship Half Moon spends its operating seasons traveling the three rivers that traditionally defined the territory of New Netherland: the Hudson, the Connecticut, and the Delaware. Our travels usually incorporate Voyage of Discovery programs or other special projects, but sometimes, the Half Moon simply needs to reach its next port of call.
The purpose of this transit voyage is to reposition the Half Moon for the second leg of the 2011 F resh River Voyage of Discovery starting on July 20th. Our course takes the ship from its starting point at Goodwin College in East Hartford, CT, down the Connecticut River, and westward through Long Island Sound to New Haven, CT, where our next student crew is due to board the ship.
In fact, this transit voyage contains two events in one! On Day One, guests of Goodwin College boarded the Half Moon in Middletown, CT and joined us for an afternoon of sail before disembarking at the Goodspeed Opera House in Haddam, CT. The Goodwin College Guest Voyage even has its own voyage entry!
