A: Henry Hudson was the captain on this voyage of the Half Moon (d'Halve Maen). He was an Englishman sailing for the Dutch East India Company in search of a northern passage to the Spice Islands for trade. Captain Hudson and his crew left Amsterdam, in the Dutch Republic, in April of 1609.
