2nd Entry, 1352 Hours: While we wait for Mr. Los - the ship's cook - and his assistants to return from a reprovisioning run on shore, Captain Reynolds convenes the new crew around the capstan and provides them with an extensive safety briefing, touching on proper procedures for everything from using three points of contact in the rig, to emergency fire procedure, and even hand washing. (We have 24 people in the crew, rainy autumn weather, and one bathroom; proper hygiene is a necessity to prevent the potential spread of colds.)
