She earned a BS in Agronomy from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1992. Her main focus with Exponent has been mercury-contaminated sites including Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, New York and the Ventron/Velsicol Superfund Site on Berry's Creek in New Jersey. Professor Carol Weisse, Ph.D.Carol Weisse, Ph.D.

Professor Carol Weisse is a Medical Psychologist who serves as Director of the Health Professions Program at Union College. Her first voyage on the Half Moon occured when she served as cook when the ship sailed to Virginia to film the movie The New World. She found the experience to be so monumental that she proposed a program for Union College students. Her daughter Alex, her son Adam, and husband Steve have all sailed on the Half Moon, but never at the same time. This will be her second voyage, but instead of cooking, she'll be teaching about shipboard life and 17th-century diet and disease.

I have been teaching history at Union College since 1969. I am a specialist in both Early American and American Demographic history, with a Ph.D. from Princeton. I have an interest in folk songs and will be providing an occasional musical interlude when time permits, so let's "haul away, Joe" as "we sail upon the low and lonesome sea."
