River Science: Comparative Temperatures

The study of comparative temperatures straddles the arenas of water and weather science. Students take temperature readings of the air using a digital thermometer. Simultaneously, they collect water samples from the water's surface using a canvas bucket and test it using a wet thermometer.

On this voyage, the research team of Izzy and Taylor compared air and surface water temperatures over the course of a full 24-hour period for their presentation project.

The students' goal is to discover if and/or how the air temperature affects the water temperature, and vice versa.
