The marine life in the ship's aquarium was all collected at low tide at Long Wharf in New Haven, CT. These starfish proved to have a voracious appetite for snails, and by the end of the voyage, one had even been "trained" to climb to the top of the tank to be hand-fed frozen oysters by Mr. Woodworth.
