During research layovers, we take groups of students out on Zodiac expeditions to explore the nearby wetlands and search for specimens of native plant and animal life to study.

While the Half Moon's layover at Rock Landing, the students explored nearby Haddam Island State Park. While we didn't collect any fauna there, they did discover a wide variety of flora, including this bracket fungus.
