The Replica Ship Half Moon's 2011 summer season is well underway! Use this page as a convenient hub to follow our voyages, dockside activities, and special projects as we sail into autumn. If an event icon is orange, you can click on it or the event title to reach more information.

September 22-October 14: The Half Moon is open to the public for dockside tours. Public tours run from 10 am to 4 pm, October 1-2 and 8-10. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students 12 and up; students under 12 are free. Pre-scheduled school tours run on weekdays.

April 8-10: The Half Moon launched its 2011 season with a shakedown voyage from Verplanck, NY to Athens, NY.
|
May 7 & 14: Volunteer crew joined us on board at Athens, NY for day-long sail handling exercises.
|
May 25: The Half Moon traveled from Athens, NY to Kingston, NY with a volunteer crew.
|
May 28-June 14: The Half Moon was open for public tours at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, NY.
|
June 11: With the Hudson River Maritime Museum, the Half Moon/New Netherland Museum conducted a one-day dockside teacher training program for Ulster County BOCES.

June 19-24: A volunteer crew sailed the Half Moon from Kingston, NY to New London, CT in preparation for the Fresh River Voyage of Discovery.

June 30-July 5 & July 20-25: Students from the Connecticut River Academy at Goodwin College joined us for the 4th annual Fresh River Voyage of Discovery.

July 9-10: The Half Moon crew, Goodwin College staff, and local historical reenactors converged in East Hartford, CT for historical ship tours and a lush 17th-century reenactment camp.

July 18: The Half Moon sailed from Middletown, CT to the Goodspeed Opera House at Haddam, CT with guests of Goodwin College as we set course back to Long Island Sound.

July 18-20: The Half Moon crew traveled from Goodwin College to New Haven, CT to position the ship for the second leg of the 2011 Fresh River Voyage of Discovery.
|
July 27: Half Moon/New Netherland Museum crew offered a day-long dockside training program to teachers participating in the Teaching the Hudson Valley Summer Institute.

July 28: The Half Moon made a one-day trip from Poughkeepsie to its summer berth at Athens, NY, completing the voyage it began on May 25.
|
August 9-11: The crew transported the Half Moon from Athens, NY to Staten Island in preparation for the Founder's Voyage.
|
August 11-14: The founder of the New Netherland Museum and guests joined us on board for a voyage through New York Harbor.
|
August 14-16: The crew returned the Half Moon to its summer berth at Athens, NY following the Founder's Voyage.
|
August 25-28: The crew battened down the hatches in preparation for Hurricane Irene.
|
August 31-September 2: The Half Moon crew moved the ship to Verplanck NY and re-rigged it for the coming Fall Voyage of Discovery.

September 8-19: The Half Moon is once again recreated the voyage of Henry Hudson with students from the Netherlands and New York State.

October 14-15: Join us for a weekend of sail training onboard the Half Moon at Peckham Materials in Athens, NY.
